Male and Female Sexual Function

Male Sexual Function

As men get older, their penile tissue ages and the vessels responsible for erection become narrower and less sensitive to stimulation. This can lead to erectile dysfunction, reduced sensitivity and limited control (premature ejaculation).

Younger men can also experience erectile dysfunction due to surgery, illness, side effects from medication and other medical conditions.

These issues can have a significant impact on a man’s relationship, self-esteem and well-being.

Penile PRP

Penile platelet rich plasma therapy (PRP) offers the opportunity to treat erectile dysfunction without drugs and with minimal down time.

Penile PRP is a regenerative medicine treatment option for designed to improve long term erectile function and prolonged sexual performance.

Clinical data and trials for penile PRP show the potential ability of PRP to regenerate erectile tissue with the following potential benefits:

  • · Stronger, firmer erections
  • · Easier to achieve and maintain erections
  • · Increased penile length and girth
  • · Resolution of penile pain with erection
  • · Increased sensitivity
  • · Better overall blood flow
  • · Increased control
About the procedure

PRP for erectile dysfunction in currently considered an experimental treatment modality, however, clinical trials and current scientific data show promising results in its effectiveness as a treatment for erectile dysfunction. PRP itself has been used over many years with a solid history of effective treatment for a number of conditions, diseases and injuries. It is a safe procedure performed in clinic with minimal down time required.

Penile PRP uses the patient’s own concentrated blood platelets and growth factors to trigger repair and regeneration of the penile tissue and vessels. This in turn enhances blood flow and nerve sensitivity helping the penis to achieve and maintain healthy erectile function. In addition, PRP also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which has the added benefit of rejuvenating the cosmetic appearance of penile skin.

Testicular PRP

Testicular PRP is an innovative procedure that has the potential to activate sperm production in the testicles for men that have been diagnosed with infertility and assist them to have their own children.

PRP therapy is able to stimulate and repair cells, and PRP injections are have been used successfully for many years in cases of many diseases and injuries. The procedure is still experimental for the purpose of activating sperm production in the testes and has been the subject of a number of clinical trials. These trials and initial clinical data indicate success in 50-60% of cases where there the retrieval of sperm for medical fertilisation is achieved.

About the procedure

Testicular PRP may be suitable for men:

  1. With low sperm counts
  2. With low testosterone levels
  3. Not suitable for hormone therapy
  4. Where hormone therapy was unsuccessful

Further testing may be required to determine suitability.

The procedure involves drawing the patient’s own blood, processing it and then injecting is back into the testes. It may involve a one-off treatment or multiple treatments over a period of weeks.

Emsella Chair for Male Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Pelvic floor dysfunction is the inability to control the muscles in your pelvic floor. Both men and women can experience this condition, which can worsen with age and after life events such as childbirth, traumatic injuries to the pelvic region, prostate surgery and nerve damage. Obesity can also be a contributing factor.

Symptoms include urinary incontinence or stress urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, painful urination, constipation or bowel strains, lower back pain, pain in the pelvic region, genitals, or rectum and muscle spasms in the pelvis and other genitourinary system diseases/disorders.

The Emsella chair is the treatment we use for these conditions which is non-surgical and non-invasive. It is so powerful that during one short 28-minute treatment, 11,200 contractions are provoked, which is the equivalent to performing 11,200 pelvic floor exercises.

Female Sexual Function

Female sexual function has until recently been a barely addressed area of medicine. Around 40% of women experience some level of sexual difficulty with diminished vaginal lubrication, pain and discomfort with intercourse, decreased arousal or difficulty in achieving orgasm. These symptoms are classified as female sexual dysfunction.

Women are still reluctant to bring up issues with their doctors but with our pioneering line of treatment, we are able to offer non-invasive, non-surgical treatments to improve and relieve unwanted, painful symptoms that women have long suffered with, often causing an impaired quality of life and difficulty in personal relationships.

Often after childbirth, women experience some of these issues, but many have other underlying causes that need to be addressed. As women age the thinning of genital tissues, decreased skin elasticity, scarring or pain can easily interfere with sexual enjoyment. Generally these issues worsen with age into post-menopause but can occur at any age.

Clitoral PRP

Clitoral PRP is a treatment that uses platelet rich plasma (PRP). It is one of the most effective and advanced, natural treatments for rejuvenation and cellular repair throughout the body. It is extremely effective for women who may have difficulty achieving an orgasm or those women who experience poor lubrication or pain during intercourse.

What is the treatment?

A small amount of blood is drawn out from your body, then spun to separate the platelets and plasma from the rest of the blood. The platelets alone are then re-injected into the clitoris. There is no pain with the procedure and minimal side effects. Improvement in sexual response and satisfaction can be seen within a few days of treatment and can last on average up to 18 months.

It takes approximately 1 hour and patients must refrain from sex for 4 hours after the treatment.

How does it work?

This treatment works through the natural production of stem cells using your own body. PRP contains platelets, with bioactive proteins, which release growth factors to stimulate cellular regeneration to grow healthier vaginal tissue.

Vaginal Atrophy

Vaginal atrophy (atrophic vaginitis) is thinning, drying and inflammation of the vaginal walls that may occur when your body has less estrogen. Vaginal atrophy occurs most often in peri- and post menopausal women. For many women, they experience; vaginal dryness, itching, painful intercourse, poor lubrication, sparse pubic hair and poor vaginal muscle elasticity and tone.

These changes are usually accompanied by women’s reduced satisfaction with the aesthetic appearance of her genitalia and decreased sexual satisfaction. Women no longer need to suffer with their symptoms though as we have a non-invasive, regenerative treatment option available.
